Project Food Blog: In Memorium

Well kids, I had a good run. Unfortunately, while I would have loved to make it all the way to the end, I have not advanced to the next round of Project Food Blog. But just look at how far we’ve come together.

This competition forced me to examine and define exactly what this blog is all about, and taught me so much about photography, and step by step photos, process shots, and great blogging. It definitely raised the bar around here. So instead of feeling sad, I am choosing to feel very proud that my humble little blog was able to make the top 48 out 2000 of the best bloggers in the world. That’s not too shabby, if I do say so myself.

I cannot even begin to thank you all for your amazing support, encouragement, and kind words. They have meant the world to me. Thank you for your votes, your comments, and for taking time out of your busy lives to stop by now and then to see what kind of mischief I’m stirring up in my kitchen.

I will be back up again and blogging more consistently right after Thanksgiving. But in the meantime, here is a look back at some of the great times we had together throughout the competition. . .

(…cue sad but triumphant music…)

  5. You certainly should be proud, Jacob. I agree with the others. You were robbed, but there’s nothing that can be done about it and I really love your gracious attitude. You already have accomplished great things and you are a food blog star. Wishing you a happy holiday season and looking forward to seeing what you have in store for us in the New Year!

Sorry to hear that you didn’t make it to the next round.
But you should be very proud of yourself in making to top 3% world best food bloggers!

  9. Well, crap! I was pulling for you and think you fully deserved to move to the next level. I’m glad that the contest has been a worthwhile experience for you, though! Happy Thanksgiving!!

  10. That stinks. You are terrific and you know that lots of people were pulling for you.

  12. Hi Jacob,
I’ve only followed your blog for a bit but you are a true inspiration and one to learn so much from. You should be a food stylist or photographer (not to take away from your culinary creativity or writing ability but the visuals are stunning). Please pass along any sage food photo wisdom. One could only hope to take photos half the quality of yours. Thanks for this beautiful place to come, look around, learn and nourish one’s palette and spirit!

  13. You made it so far Jacob, and you should be very proud. You are an amazing cook and baker, as well as a very kind person, and I am glad to know you.

  14. you are truly a talent! i’m dismayed that you did not move forward, I had you pegged as one of the finalists. keep up the superb work, you’re awesome!

  15. Darn! I am so glad I found your blog through fb and I still say you have some of the best photos around! Have a great holiday!

  16. Sorry you didn’t make it. I voted for you all the way.

  17. marion Poole

Well, I didn’t look at all of them but the 10 or so I did look at were beneath you. Which means either I had a rotten time picking them or it was a popularity contest. I thought your video was very well produced. Your presenting was professional, the quality of video great, and I loved the intro. Well done.

  18. I too think you were robbed (I honestly thought it was going to come down to you & Lauren from Foodie House), but you’re being so gracious about it. This is why you’re so awesome!

  19. Wow, I can’t believe you’re out! You were one of my favorites, and I am very sad to see you go (from the competition)!

  20. Oh, I can’t believe it 😦 You did an excellent job. I’ll be following you still. Nice recap.

  21. I am relatively new to this site but your scone entry was the first one I viewed and voted for. Those things were gorgeous! You did a great job no matter how things turned out. I look foward to reading more of your posts and recipes!

  22. tcmaryf

I love scones and yours were absolutely wonderful. Surprised you didn’t advance but, look at all you’ve achieved and be so very proud of that. Your blog is wonderful, your recipes are great, and your photos beautiful. Keep up the good stuff!

  23. You are an inspiration and your wrap up proves it. I thought the video cemented your amazing talent. I’m sorry the judges felt otherwise.

Have a fantastic holiday and we do look SO forward to continuing on this journey with you.

  24. Hi Jacob,

I feel so sorry for you because you are very talented, you have incredible photo and cooking skills, but most important to me here, you went through all these challenges with DIGNITY !!!, and not many people can say that….
And don’t worry!! The winner of a contest is soon forgotten, real talent remains!!!
    Good luck for you!
    Un beso,
    Cristina

  25. very sad that you could not make it through..Please try again next time…All the food you made were awesome..Trust me…

  26. Voted for you in every round! Cheers to the photographers without the fancy cameras, but with a good eye for filters and composition. 🙂

  27. I rooted for you all the way Jacob. You did a wonderful job. I’m looking forward to reading more of your posts and drooling over your photos.

  28. Aww bummer. Jacob- your photos are exquisite (as are your recipes) and I have have improved my own food photography by learning from your pics. It’s only a contest and has no bearing on life in the grand scheme of things. Keep making beautiful food! And Happy Thanksgiving- I’m going to work up a gluten-free version of those scones for my girls and myself for Thanksgiving morning- I’ll let you know how they turn out!

  29. Jacob I am so proud of you and how well you did in Project Food Blog. Each of your posts was just stunning, full of heart. You were among some of my most favorite contestants to have been eliminated, a little too soon. It was an honor to do PFB with you! As I said, you’ll always have a fan in me.

  30. I loved your blog before PFB even started, and I am truly surprised that you didn’t advance to #8.

That said, you should be proud of what you have accomplished and proud of your fabulous blog. I’ll enjoy every gorgeous photo and recipe that you share in the future.

  31. Thank you all so much for all of your support. I told myself from day one that I would be happy to make the top 50. And I did! I personally never imagined that I would get beyond the first couple of rounds, so the top 50 out of 2000 seems pretty great. So I am definitely marking down this whole experience as a success.

    Thanks for stopping by! =)

  32. Hey Jacob I followed you all the way and voted for your every time. While all the blogs on Food Buzz are good, yours is one of my all time favorites.

  33. What an accomplishment! You should be very proud of yourself. You have a wonderful blog and you pour your heart and soul into each post. Looking forward to your new posts after the Thanksgiving holiday.

  34. What beautiful pictures you take!

  41. Jacob, both your dishes and the pictures you’ve taken of them look absolutely AMAZING. Sorry to hear you haven’t advanced further, however, looking at all those beauties, I think you are a winner anyway 🙂

  42. twicecookedhalfbaked

Huge bummer! I have been following you and thought you would take it all the way. I love your food and photography, so keep it up.

  43. junebu8

I’m shocked you didn’t advance. What a loss for all of us who were on the edge of our seats to see what you would do for the next round. Looking forward to seeing more posts post-holiday!

  44. Jacob, I was shocked to see you go out of the competition. But, as you say, all is not lost, you did an awesome job with each entry and I was rooting for you all the way.

  47. Hand me a tissue. I’m sad. However, a lot of good things came out of this. First, I discovered your blog and shall remain a faithful fan. To each challenge, you put a lot of heart and soul into posting beautiful photos and recipes. I’m sorry that the challenge ends here, but your journey continues. I just bought a sugar pumpkin and have not forgotten the crostata you made for that picnic. Let’s not forget that I now know your secret to scones. Ha!You are a winner.
